Before Hermione was born I started my search for the perfect diaper bag. I had it in my head that I had to buy a bag specifically made for toting baby essentials from diapers, to toys, to a change of clothes. I have gone through three diapers bags in the past two plus years looking for the perfect fit. They either screamed “baby bag” way too loudly, were too clunky to carry, didn’t hang on my stroller well, or didn’t hold up well to spills and wear and tear. Read more
This summer it has felt like we are constantly taking Hermione out to restaurants for meals. From lunch at clam bars to dinners in Montauk she has been to her fair share of Hamptons restaurants. With Doug only with us a few nights a week we prefer to all go out to dinner as a family instead of getting a babysitter and leaving Hermione at home. Read more
In the summer Hermione and I buy all of our produce at our favorite farm stand, Balsam Farms in Amagansett. Doug and I started going there years ago and now it has become a family tradition. We make serval trips a week as we go through produce fast in this house! As the summer season progresses and their stock changes it is always fun to see what will be available. Strawberries one week, peaches the next! I love the thrill of the day their incredibly delicious ( and famous!) corn becomes available. We buy many ears and use it raw in salads and roast it on the grill.
There is nothing glamorous or exciting about getting your period. Ok, maybe I was a little excited the very first time (why?) but now 20 years later it’s just a pain in the uterus.
After having Hermione it took a little more than 17 months for my period to return. Add to that about 10 months of pregnancy and that’s over two years of not having to deal with this monthly headache. I remember my first period post Hermione being a total surprise, I had no idea when it would return and I was totally unprepared. I threw on one of the giant maxi pads I still had from the immediate post-partum days and ran out to stock up on tampons.
If only LOLA has been around then. LOLA is an amazing new 100% hypoallergenic tampon subscription service that ensures you are always prepared for that time of the month!
Not only does LOLA deliver tampons to you every month in customizable shipments, their tampons are 100% hypoallergenic, biodegrabale and completely cotton. The chic looking box is even made from recycled cardboard! No nasty additive, chemicals or dyes here!
I love the entire philosophy behind LOLA- their tampons are clean, pure and simple just the way I like it. Being a busy mom I also appreciate anything that I can have delivered to my door when I need it. No more last minute tampon runs for me.

Since becoming a mom my daily beauty routine has been significantly paired down. I don’t have the time ( or desire) anymore to spend an hour getting ready for the day. As I get older and more comfortable in my own skin I also find myself more drawn to a natural look rather than looking like I just stepped off a photo shoot. Read more
On Friday we are moving out to East Hampton for the summer and I could not be more excited. We have been spending weekends there since Memorial Day and those two days a week are never enough. I am very much looking forward to beach days, sunset cocktails at our favorite vineyard, and lots of swimming in the pool with Hermione. Each summer with Hermione gets more and more fun and I have a feeling this will be our best yet! Read more
Summer is my favorite season for dressing Hermione. It is so much easier to throw a dress and bloomers on than to layer her in tights, sweaters, coats, hats etc. Plus she looks so adorable and girly in a little summer dress I can hardly stand it!
Once July 4th comes and goes I can really settle into my summer groove. The holiday weekend was a bit hectic for us with several parties, BBQs and the holiday traffic that made my head spin every time I got in the car. Now that that madness is behind us I am excited for long lazy days outside with Hermione and plenty of sun. Read more
