About Me

Sara Jane Mercer is a Manhattan-based Whole Living Expert, Recipe Developer and Food Writer specializing in plant based clean, pure and simple recipes.

Sara loves recipes that are simple, healthy and imprecise. She loves experimenting for hours in the kitchen and sharing the results with friends and her husband Doug. This love for Clean, Pure and Simple living is what lead her to create her site and a venue to share her passion for everything health with others.

Sara is certified as a Holistic Health and Wellness Coach by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners and trained at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where she learned more than 100 dietary and mind body theories and practical lifestyle management techniques. She was taught by top health and wellness experts, including Dr. Andrew Weil, Geneen Roth, Dr. David Katz, Dr. John Douillard, Dr. Mark Hyman, and David Wolfe.

She has also trained with Clinical Nutritionist and Detox Expert Natalia Rose in Intelligent Detox Counseling and is a Rose Program Culinary Institute certified chef.

Each month, Sara hosts Clean, Pure and Simple parties, ranging from cooking classes to all natural spa parties. For these events she has partnered with makeup artist Rebecca Casciano, Tata Harper Skincare, and OMilk artisanal nut milks, among others.

In addition to her blog, Sara is a regular contributor for Whole Living Magazine where you will find one of kind recipes. She has been also been featured in numerous healthy lifestyle favorites such as Veg News and Vegan Magazine as well as CeciStyle.

Sara is a huge green juice fan and consumes about 80 percent raw, plant-based foods. She manages to maintain this lifestyle through lots of travel, dinners out with friends, and social events, never feeling deprived or overcome by a craving.

Although Sara has always been passionate about food and health, her background is in theater. She studied acting at Boston University, ran her own non-for-profit theater company and is currently a Broadway producer of the Tony-nominated musical ROCK OF AGES. She is also the youngest member of the Board of Trustee’s at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center and chairs the Lincoln Center Theater Young Angels Steering Committee.

Sara is excited to share her Clean, Pure and Simple recipes, travel tips, beauty recommendations and more with you. She deeply believes that healthy living should be an easy and fun daily indulgence.
